This kind of reminds me of the fate of Miller Motorsports Park—once Miller himself passed away, his family that took over the track had no interest in keeping it going. Point being: someone, somewhere in racing is usually invested in it

Or, perhaps, the CEO change has a lot to do with it and not a realization that IndyCar isn’t the blockbuster it was in the 90s. The old CEO and Chip were pals until he left in 2014, and then suddenly two Target cars became one.
