Point taken. But, for the record, NorCal isn't as non-Hispanic as NorCal people like to think it is or like the rest of the country to think it is.

"Even if she is white with the last name Del Rey (even though it's a stage name), Spanish is a language of European origin."

Del Rey is etymologically Spanish. But it is not and should not be associated primarily with Hispanics/Chicanos/Latinos and other Spanish speaking groups. Not if you are living in the South West, North West, or CA.

The way I read her comment about the "albino boyfriend" was that it was an attempt on Crosley's part to imply (critically) that Del Rey was tokenizing, or phenomenalizing him. But of course, that's ridiculous because that assumes that as an albino Shaun Ross can't be taken seriously as Del Rey's male counterpart in

Honestly, at this point, it's not even gang culture. It's kitchy angelino culture.

This is the truth. It's hard to say this because you risk sounding like you're saying, "You're racist for thinking it's racist!" But yeah.

I'm with you. I didn't really come away from this article impressed by Lana Del Rey's racism so much as I came away from this article impressed by Crosley's racism. Whether LDR's hodge-podge Angelino/So-Cal aesthetic is pulled off in this video, or whether she slides into the dangerous territory of representing "a

True. But then the truth is also that men propose "indirectly" all the time. "So... we've been dating for a while now. You know what my goals are. It seems like this is the time to make this decision if we're going to make it. We're coming up on the holidays and I want to be able to take you home to my parents this

Technically, they ARE proposing. That's what a proposal is. When you propose marriage. "I want/need us to get married. Do you?"

So, there's a reason I peppered my original post with qualifies like, "most people" and "very very few." I know people enter into lasting, happy marriages at every age.

It's hard for me to understand women like Yasmin because eyebrow plucking is one addiction I've never had or even flirted with. But other women tell me it is hard to control. They KNOW they're over plucking. They just can't stop pulling out their own hair like (ironically) depressed zoo animals.

"All punishment is cruel, by definition."

I can't even tell you what a bad idea I think getting married in your early twenties is. In most cases.

It's the legal obligation part that needs to be stressed. Like super super stressed. It's fucking amazing to me how many people get married in their early twenties only to get divorced five years later and be SHOCKED that there are financial and legal ramifications that will effect them for decades if not for the rest

OMG those girls are so young. I mean, honestly, I know that lots of girls still leave college and get married right away. Especially preppy, wealthy private school girls. But it's so horrific.

"for... what exactly???"

For real. I propose defenestration as a method.

Yes. All gallows humor aside, this is just more proof of how profoundly sick capital punishment is. It's absolutely a form of torture and a crime against humanity.

It's not that we must default to white. It's that we must actively white wash people of color. Best example of this? Wizard of Eathsea the movie (and more of the cover art for the book to be fair). BOTH of these people are supposed to be black:

I think what it is is romanticizing disease and disability. And yeah... for every individual who claims that their bipolar disorder or their OCD or their Aspergers has been the source of their success in some way (they work well when manic, they do work that requires obsessive focus, they developed special skills to
