They could have used a "better fighter" as a stunt double - he'll be wearing full armor, after all…

Yep, Conan Stevens was the season 1 guy. He left originally because he was appearing in The Hobbit, but that's over now. Not sure why he didn't get the call…

I like how the latest actor to play the Mountain looks nothing like his brother. Great job. They really couldn't have just brought back Conan Stevens?

Was that Lannister money though? Maybe it was, I admit I don't recall.

The Lannisters going broke was never specifically mentioned, but it sort of makes sense - if the Crown is crippled by debt and the Lannisters effectively own the Crown, shouldn't it be a rather easy matter for a rich Lannister family to settle the Crown's accounts?

Yes, in Season 1, I forget which episode, Tyrion tells Bronn (and I think Shae?) the story of Tysha.

IIRC, he killed Shae simply because he found her there. It was Tywin he was intending to kill. Point being, I don't see TV Shae going to Tywin's room.

I could see Shae maybe killing herself, instead. Kekilli could have played the courtroom scene stoically, throwing the "relationship" into very harsh relief, but she seemed hesitant on the stand, like she was betraying herself, too. No way that Shae will end up in bed with Tywin when the time comes, but she has to die.

Man, non-readers are going to freak out when Oberyn Martell dies and next season is filled with even more Greyjoys.

Tremendous.

Yes, you're right. I spent all day trying to remember it before checking Littlefinger's page on awoiaf. Needless to say I am embarrassed I forgot that part - but it was still clumsy here!

The reveal that Littlefinger orchestrated the poisoning of Jon Arryn (it's been a while since I've read the books, but I don't think that's revealed in writing) was fairly clumsy, especially coming so hot on the heels of the Olenna/Littlefinger/Joffrey reveal. I'm grateful that the show didn't descend into a

Jon is one of the least exciting??

TIL Russia produces beers with single digit ABV.

Her dulcet, valiumnal tones kind of remind me of the ladies of the Delicious Dish, ipso facto I'm ok with her.

I suspect the inadequacy of the primetime commentary is down to what NBC determines the average American viewer wants: big, mature names who give the impression of detail but who mostly - and I'm looking at you, Scott Hamilton - bring the "WHOOOAOAAAAAOOOAA!!" after a jump is landed. We don't want too much detail,

As a gooner, this was about the point of the match when my friends and I just started laughing.

Not that there are ever fortunate injuries, but it's really too bad it ended like this. Stan was commanding throughout the tournament and doesn't deserve the asterisk that some will apply to this.
