As a bay area native, I think it’s fair to say that the chances of 10 more feet of race track being paved in the greater bay area is near-nil, nevermind 10 miles; I was being quite facetious about extending Sonoma! That said, the situation at Thunderhill looks feasible if they got their hands on the land.

My friend has been working at a large BMW dealer for years, and the X4 had been out for months when we had this phone exchange one day:

Forces are forces, 34,000 lbs. is 34,000 lbs. whether that’s 34,000 lbs. of mass sitting motionless under normal earth gravity, or whether that’s 34,000 lbs. of force generated by hydraulic pressure within a ram test apparatus, or whether that’s 34,000 lbs. because the car smashed into something at high speed and was

I REALLY hope someone makes your show, it would be such a brilliant callout of the wealthy in this country.

I am for this idea, but even moreso if we extend Sonoma about 10 miles first.

Me watching racing for the past decade:

I think that’s more realistic; they’re already becoming the mommy mobiles of this generation that stylish people are starting to turn their back on. The SUV coupe thing will extend the trend a bit IMO, but I think 10-20 years is how long the SUV fad has (20 from now is a LOT), and I am hoping that the onset of EVs

Just like how nothing could ever kill the wood-paneled station wagon because people loved them too much?

A 2002 Miata LS stickered at $21,280 when new; $21,280 in 2002 is equivalent to $31k today. So, adjusted for inflation, the Miata has gotten $5k cheaper in 18 years?

I am waiting for EVs to kill the SUV. Frontal area is the killer to EV range; SUVs have lots of frontal area; people want EV range. Some day people are going to figure out that EV SUVs are stupid and give up. Please, please, please I hope that day comes soon.

The Gladiator is probably one of those cars that’s of way more interest to journalists than car buyers. A small niche market buys them when they hit the market, then...crickets.

I keep wanting to see much more aggressive cost and staffing caps in F1...try $50m USD per season and 400 staff members. If it were equal for everyone, it would make for a far more sporting and sustainable championship. Instead, giants like Mercedes are pulling the plug, because the bills are too big...F1 learned

My mom chose a 1997 Accord V6 over this Camry because she couldn’t see the tops of the Camry’s gauges no matter how she adjusted her seat and steering wheel; that pre-98 Accord was a real disappointment. My uncle had a 1998 Accord V6 and the few times I rode in it it was like, wow, this is MILES better than my mom’s

I got to drive the autobahn in 2008, ok in a FIAT not anything cool, but still traveled at 160 kph+ and the speed thing really wasn’t that special. I found the constantly flowing, curving design of the autobahn, combined with German motorway lane etiquette and attentiveness, to be what really defines the autobahn

I guess I’m a super MkIV snob, because I look at this go...12v lump? 4-spoke steering wheel? Wood shift knob? Castellets? By the time you address the latter 3 issues, you could be in a 24v VR6 with a 6-speed from 2002.5+ when the cars’ issues had really been all ironed out. Basically any MkIV pre-2002 I go ehhhhh no

Tesla is a company that has multiple paths to appeal, and I’ve run into people who appreciate one, all, or just some of the things about Tesla. There is the performance, which some people understand in context and some people just think of as “Ludicrous mode whoa”; there is the efficiency, which is excellent and helps

My friend’s been ordering the new BMWs for a large CA dealer for several years now, and he’s been consistently telling me that Tesla is eating BMW’s market share for lunch. Granted, we’re in Tesla’s backyard, but at least at the regional level, BMW has already been sweating Tesla here for a few years. (BMW isn’t

Idiots ruin everything, from cars and coffee to American government...

178 HP is plenty for a Mazda 3-type vehicle? Put it in that, Americans will just buy it because the screen inside pairs with their phone...

I am a fan of driving at a reasonable pace for the given situation!
