Oh it's true. People take it crazy seriously. I don't think high school football culture is stupid, it's just so unfamiliar. For adults to get that involved in the athletic performance of school children- it seems quite particular to the USA. Someone below mentioned how the US is so spread out that you can be hundreds

That's an extremely good point. In the UK, you're never more than an hour or so away from a major city.

Hooliganism and racism were a massive part of British football in the 80's but now, not so much. You can take your small kids to a game with no concern. The thing is that these are professional teams people get crazy about. Not high school teams.

I find this part of American culture to be completely incomprehensible- that adults could actually give a serious shit about the school sporting accomplishments of a bunch of children.

Australia has a very strict immigration policy but electricians are an industry they are lacking in. It's pretty easy to emigrate there and make good money if you are a sparky (my cousin did it). How they missed his conviction though, I don't know.

that article is gold

Gavin and Stacey is wonderful. However, everything else he has done is just awful. Pretty obvious that Ruth Jones (aka Nessa aka AWESOME) was the comedy talent behind G&S. They should've hired her.

That's so goddamn sad.

I know what you mean. The photo would have been much more natural lying on a bed, or something. She looks gorgeous but unnatural and forced.

sexualising her child that has no idea what sex, a tit, his mother, or indeed himself are?

I'm disgusted that she looks so damn good a few months after giving birth.

I have It's Not the Stork to my kiddo when she was 4. It's brilliant, especially the chapters on friends and touches. The only downside is she loved it so much she took it to her Christian school for show and tell :/

My daughter knows what sex is. She knows how babies are made, where they come from, the correct names for body parts, and how her parts are private and for her alone. She is 5. The earlier children know this stuff, the better IMO. Kids need the language to talk about abuse in case it ever happens to them and

Ok. I do appreciate that. Whether or not a woman who willingly helped to brutally murder 7 people is a victim I think is subjective.

she was amazing in that role. I thought she would be awful and I love her. But she nailed it. She could definitely carry a film franchise.

Sure, but my parents weren't empathic or loving!

I'm sorry if what I said was unclear. I don't think for one minute that the focus of this documentary being on her personal growth is narcissistic. I do think that some time can be spent on talking about the victims, yes. You can't mention specifically the 7 people you murdered? The focus entirely being on her come

Clearly all you can do is your best. I would never say otherwise. Do minor insignificant events in an otherwise warm and loving family, where the child is raised by open and empathic parents, really cause a life time of trauma?

I personally don't think she conveys real responsibility and remorse in these 9 minutes. For herself yes. But not for the victims. But thats OK, we don't have to agree on that.
