As a middle-aged Brit living the US, there’s no way in hell I’m not getting on a plane and flying to London ASAP. This is (for me) a potential once in a lifetime event (barring Charles from popping his clogs too quickly). Ignoring what you think of the monarchy for a minute, this kind of thing doesn’t just happen…

He may not have much of a choice. He could abdicate immediately, which would be a whole other kettle of fish, but I don’t beleive there’s any precedent for skipping an heir to the throne.
