Maybe? I but always expected that renewing from out of the country would take longer than doing it in-country. But 4 weeks was quicker than the UK domestic estimate they were giving.
We renewed the US one at the same time, we got the UK passport back before we’d even got acknowledgement from the State dept that they’d

On the flip side, 6 months ago I was able to fedex a passport renewal for my son from the US to the UK and get the new passport back again within 4 weeks. So yeah, the US is doing it wrong.
And, just because it’s today, can you stop throwing my tea in the harbour ? :-)
