As fun as these things are, it also really highlights that superheroes, by their nature, can’t be “realistic.”

I’m waiting for him to invent pneumatic stilts, ala Stilt Man.
I’m sorry, how has no one figured out that this guy is the Tinkerer without the budget? Yeah, if he starts making real money we’re all gonna be in some deep, deep shit. This guy and that crazy British guy who built a working hoverbike are about one lottery win from unleashing super villains on us.
I wanna call him “Synder” from now on. That sounds like an eXXXtreme 1990s supervillain name.
Especially when you look at films like Beauty and the Beast that have made well over $1 billion. There is no way that DC expected the first-ever movie with Batman, Superman AND Wonder Woman to make less money than a live action remake of a 26 year-old Disney animated movie.
Considering the fact that one of the biggest complaints about the current DCEU is that it takes itself TOO seriously, I doubt that Nolan would be the solution to their problems. I can’t remember experiencing a whole lot of laughs (or even smiles) out of any of his Batman films, even though I liked all of them to for…
None of them have tanked financially, just critically. A lot of undiscerning viewers shamelessly lap this crap up.
I don’t watch a ton of primetime tv live, but pretty much every time I have lately, there’s been a WW commercial.
Doubt it seriously.
As long as the studios are making money, they could care less about the opinions of fans. I would guess that global sales will always keep a lot of the franchises viable even if the films are flaming dumpster fires like Suicide Squad.
The short answer is no.
Best case scenario, Whedon would most likely only accept to do Batgirl if he had little to no oversight, and maybe THEN the DC cinematic universe can start fresh.
Well, Aquaman has just started shooting, so we’re getting that at least, they’re not going to pull the plug by that point. Flash and Batman are the big question marks at the moment.
Wonder Woman looks like its going for the Marvel-esque comedy and not taking itself too seriously which would instantly make it a more fun movie to watch.
“Snyder’s style is already looking long in the tooth, very mid-late ‘00s.”
I think there would have to be some very drastic and public rebranding, like the movie equivalent of Rebirth.
Every time Affleck thinks about The Batman:
If Wonder Woman does well I imagine it’ll buoy hopes for Justice League, maybe not a WW sequel just yet. JL is really Warners’ proof-of-concept, and if it doesn’t do well — very well — I imagine they’ll start to think about another Bat-reboot. Certainly that might be the end of Snyder’s tenure.
And once the dust settles, Snyder will still be involved.
Are there sites that are still optimistic? Because even when I see a casting announcement that is exciting (or less white), there are still immediately complains following it.
Like, nobody takes a second to enjoy the victory.
I don’t know, I’m easily amused. While I think the CW shows are clunky, I still get excited…
Real Talk: I find that io9 has become a much more bitter site over the past year. Maybe its the lack of open channel, maybe its the lack of recaps, maybe its the shift in who works there, maybe its the Gizmodo partnership, but this site has become a lot more bitter.
