I know any time you question the ridiculous excesses of late stage capitalism (post modern capitalism at this point) you get labelled a socialist who wants Stalin-style gulags and collectivization, but how can you read something like this and not laugh your ass off at the absurdity of this economic system?

My controversial take here is that after watching Jodorowsky’s Dune, I think more adaptations should be helmed by directors who have never actually read the book.

Prisoners were forced to march 30 to 40 kilometers (19 to 25 miles) per day around the camp’s courtyard to the sound of German marching songs — any prisoners who slowed down or fell were executed by the camp’s SS guards.

They should have just shouted something about their heritage and claimed that whoever spoke ill of their Nazi-era actions just hated capitalism and despised Germany.

I care. It’s very likely that access to their trove of WWII documents was predicated upon there being actual living Continental officers or highly placed shareholders who were culpable for abetting Nazis. 

Excellent - everybody’s happy, no damage done.  Well done that man.

You may be on to something here; this sounds exceptionally plausible.

This is such a great pick, I saw this movie approximately one million times as a kid. It was one of those on regular HBO rotation. Will never forget the housekeeper going off to get her feet scraped. “Love that chicken pepperoni!”

I disagree though: some episodes I actually felt the old magic. “Mac and Me” in particular was:
