Full self driving vehicles, and even semi-autonomous vehicles have statistically FAR fewer wrecks than cars driven solely by humans. Even if we only save one life per year switching to FSD vehicle, wouldn’t that be better than not?

The name of the feature doesn’t imply that it can do anything except automatically pilot the vehicle. This isn’t the same as completely autonomously piloting the vehicle.

More testing isn’t really going to solve this... Everyone knows they are being tested when they actively go to the dmv to BE tested. Only a complete and incompetent moron would attempt glancing at their cellphone while they have a tester in their car.

There is a dead man’s switch... you have to actively tell the car to ignore the issue. If you’re incapacitated or dead, you wouldn’t be able to do this. I’m not sure how it would handle an instance where your hands might seize up on the steering wheel though. 

What’s frustrating is that both my LaCie 6 drive raid and the LG UltraFine 4K can’t actually keep up the charge of a 15" MBP when doing video editing. Portland here. Drivers that don’t actually pay attention are a fucking nuisance. Also, pedestrians that think it’s ok to enter a crosswalk when the signal has started flashing/counting down are a nuisance - preventing cars from turning on green. Technically, if you hit them they are at fault.
