For that matter, what kind of Star Wars transports don’t have light-speed capability? Surely at the point where they’re being picked off at 1 ship every two seconds, a light-speed jump is a better option than just waiting to be picked off.

Does all that heavy FO tonnage not include ANY heavy fighters? You could store a thousand cruisers of equivalent tonnage and speed of the resistance cruiser on board the flagship. Hell, get a dozen un-manned blockade runner style ships to ram it.

Everybody fails at everything in this movie. The only real success is that Poe saves the entire resistance in the opening battle, but then fails to point that out when he gets reprimanded.

Yes, the point was clear. It was the writer telling us we’re idiots for liking Star Wars, “Look, this Star Warsy story line would have terrible consequences in the real world. Fuck you.”

He did try to run it by Holdo. She rejected it out of hand from what basically seemed like a contempt for the lower ranks. By this time, we the audience are already being led down the garden path by the writer. It’s a cheap trick.

Oh come on, she was clearly painted to look shady. We were lead down that path, and then had fingers pointed at us for going where we were lead. It was a cheap narrative trick.

Holdo’s plan was a crap one that did get all but a hand-full killed. Hiding on a base that the FO knew was there and had all the equipment on hand to defeat it was a shitty plan, one born of no better options. Poe offered her an option that had it succeeded would have saved the entire cruiser and she ignored it out of…

That’s not how the Star Wars universe works though is it? The alliance gives Luke a precious X-Wing despite having no evidence he can fly one. They ask Han Solo to take part in the battle, despite his loyalties being unproven. They make him a general, despite him having no military experience and a temperament…

Exactly, they lead us down a certain path, then pulled the rug and tried to make us feel bad about it. It’s so frigging manipulative, and to what point?
