What you mean to say is "Of course the ratings were high for the first episode. It's the only decent show every HBO channel airs anymore."

I'm currently half way through S4 and I was certainly let down big time by Musings. I mean, it was good, it was different, but it was also a bit cliche, and then ending it by saying "well maybe this DIDNT happen" just made it a big waste of time. Of course, I'm sure I'm saying nothing that millions haven't said before.

It's so they can enjoy the good episodes while they still last. There are (supposedly) so few left.

Home was god damn terrific. I'm amazed that it was ever even aired. X-Files is great by the way it pushes the boundaries of what can be shown on network TV, and Home is a prime example.
