Regarding Trump explaining movies… He did do this with Citizen Kane in conversation with Errol Morris and *extremely* took away the wrong theme: “Get yourself a different woman.”

Chloe and Mattie, my bulldogs.

Mattie is a very good bulldog who enjoys people and sunshine.

If Moose is a HOFer (he should get in) and Smoltz is a HOFer (he got in), Schilling is definitely a HOFer. His peak and career values are *very* similar to Moose and his career value is 20 wins better than Smoltz.

The character clause is bullshit; it’s just an excuse to use squishy arguments for sportswriters to

A friend drew a chalk heart around the memorial brick at the stadium for our Cub-crazy friend who was killed by a drink drive in 08. It was both perfect in its greatness and its sadness.

Wait for it.

Thank god baby Russert is gone. The stories about him (his ego, mostly, but his incompetence) around town are abundant.

Cosign on the Lester Holt point above. Maddow would’ve been the best to moderate last night, as someone who’s written a book on the future of the U.S. military make her perfect for the job (not to

My bulldog Mattie lost out again by not entering. She’s just the cutest.

(That was on the way home from a vet visit that included a blood test. Hence the purple bandage)

I just wanted to reply to commend you on the Kinja name. Just Stamp the Ticket Man is my favorite Simpson nameless character after Old Jewish Man.

Sure. It’s hard to forget Missouri’s racially awful recent past. But, Missouri is one of 50 very racists states in the U.S. as we’re seeing over and over. Every city/state/etc. — NY, Chicago, Ferguson, Minneapolis, Charleston, etc. — gets a turn here and it’s showing just how far we have to go as a nation.

And I’d add that Bomani is one of the best things going on ESPN, I just disagree with this one point. He’s one of the clearest voices on many things on many subjects, especially race. Le Batard’s radio show is more entertaining, but I definitely miss Bomani Jones Wednesdays on the show.

I’m a huge Le Batard fan, but

I loved the rant, too, but agree — and I guess my cred is that I’m a Mizzou alum — that Bo was painting with too broad a brush on the first amendment stuff against the racism of media. Certainly, his point speaks to a larger distrust of institutions (in this case, “mainstream” journalism) by the black community, but

Wait, who’s ripping Wilmore? That show is great.

It's part of it (full disclosure: I am also a Jewish man, but tend to think antisemitism is hugely on the decline in the US), but Blatt's reaction is definitely at fault for a lot of this animosity. His "I'm a very accomplished coach in Europe" thing screams of little brother syndrome and it's done him no favors.

Agree on the SKS assessment. Bedwetter is a goddamned classic. I disagree on Bossypants, as I found it to be the best of all of the books mentioned in these comment threads (my undying love for Fey is probably the reason, but here we are). I'd rank Bedwetter and Bossypants next to one another, with Dunham and Poehler

True, though Poehler has definitely written a lot of TV episodes and fancies herself a writer in the chapter about Hollywood and the different roles each person has (producer, actor, writer, etc.).

Not to crap on Yes, Please. I was totally entertained. Both books were wonderful. I just thought Not That Kind of Girl was

I, in fact, have read both. Poehler's, of course, is way more hilarious, but her writing isn't as vibrant and evocative as Dunham's.

Agreed. She looks exactly like the mousey secretary/librarian in all the porn I grew up watching. Take off the glasses, shake out the hair...

I'm not proud of feeling this way. Indeed, I'm quite ashamed of it. I despise her politics and pretty much everything she stands for. But, goddamn, there's some Pavlovian thing
