From a story and thematic standpoint I agree with you regarding the shipwreck and after, but from a game play perspective it was probably my favorite section. I also really needed a shakeup to the American Wild West theme at that point in the game, so on that level I appreciated it.
My experience almost perfectly mirrors yours, Lord. I really liked the game at first, then around Lemoyne it became an almost unbearable slog, so I quit and didn’t pick it up for weeks. I really liked the game and finished it, but agree with you on the controls. It felt more like controlling a puppet than inhabiting the character myself. Compare that to a game like The Division 2 (a worse game in every other respect than RDR2), where the character control and shooting feels great.
