I’m 27, smoke, want to quit, but it’s fucking hard to give up nicotine and not have other parts of your life suffer, which is why I still smoke (though I’ve mostly managed to get it down to only in the evenings). Anyway, I can say with a fair amount of certainty that if the age for buying cigarettes had been 21 when

Also like, these children have a weakened immune system, so yeah, wearing gloves while handling the food would be pretty important.

He’s making a perfectly cromulent point in the rest of the column, but I didn’t absorb any of it because that one trainwreck paragraph had me curled in a ball under my desk.

None of those stocks pays dividends. Good luck with that Series 7 exam!

So if you’ve had a problem animal that you were not able to fix after making a substantial effort over time and eventually decide to rehome that animal in a responsible way, you are automatically a bad person if you ever get another pet? Okay then.

Oh, but when it does happen, these are the folks who see it. We adopted a five-month-old Clumber Spaniel, who was adorable, and adored me, adored me, adored me. And even though she got regular exercise and a pleasing home environment and good training supervised by a very senior guy, it soon became clear that she

Yeah this whole nonsense of shitting all over her for being honest about her struggles with this dog that she pretty obviously loved and cared about is really gross to me. Sometimes animals need and absolutely SHOULD be rehomed. It’s sad but yeah, it fucking happens!! I love animals, I love my dog literally more than

I dislike Lena Dunham immensely but I’ve worked in animal welfare for years and yes this does happen. Sure, there are assholes who don’t even try but if what this trainer is saying is true, she did her best and this is not a good fit for both of them. It is entirely possible Lena’s lifestyle is triggering to the dog;

What are reasonable expectations of someone who adopts a dog? She spent four years and tons of money and the problems are still happening, including biting. She didn’t drive out to the country and abandon it, she found a new home for it.

YEP.

Why would anyone think that about her? Yes, she’s pragmatic. However, by virtue of being a Black woman, she understands the existential threat that not voting Dem would do to Black folk.

yup yup yup

That show sucked bigly.

Can I just say that I am so sick of people insulting religious people who believe in an “invisible sky-God”? You don’t believe? That’s fine! However, that’s no reason to insult everyone’s who believes in God. Contrary to your draconian beliefs, it’s possible to be religious and support science and liberal beliefs.

I have a handful of friends from hs who are pretty involved in the theater community in Chicago, so I read the review of Pass Over a few days ago. She’s so effusive about the play in the first few paragraphs...

Oh my god, why would you post that???

This notion has to die already. I’m convinced the people who think the Ivies are all trust find kids have never spent any time knowing anyone in those communities.

Harvard has a sliding scale for tuition based on your economic status. If you can get into Harvard, you’ll likely end up paying less for college (including room and board) than getting into your local state school, unless you’re super wealthy.

In my humble opinion....Alec ain’t wrong.
