Yes and no.

WADA used to ban caffeine completely during competition for performance enhancing effects. They relaxed the ban because, well, so many people drink coffee and tea that a total ban was very unpopular. There are currently limits to how much caffeine an athlete can have in their system during competition (elite athletes

Great that this Olympic story is getting so much attention. But Meanwhile, not a word on Jez about a middle aged male “competing” in female weightlifting?? Doesn’t even rate a discussion here. Guess female spaces are also vanishing for discussions…

These are WADA rules, the World Anti Doping Agency, not just the USA. The rest of the world doesn’t care that a few American states are fine with marijuana, globally it’s mostly illegal.

It is sucks but doping is strict. Gymnast Andreea Răducan was stripped of her gold medal for having pseudoephedrine in her system.

Some PED history:

It’s almost certainly not helpful in sprinting, at least in competition, but WADA don’t try to specify which drugs are banned for which sports, because that’d basically be giving drug cheats a shopping list and encouragement to innovate [“Hey, Drug X is super dangerous and massively performance-enhancing... but we

USATF’s rules state that 1-3 finishers are the Olympic qualifiers, as long as they all have the standard (they do). She’s been DQ’d from the Trials and that’s not getting overturned. So there’s 2 options here:

Ahhh man I can’t believe we had to wait all the way till the last paragraph for the all black women, including the fabulously wealthy, are downtrodden hot take. Shoot

Years ago, Nobel Prize winner Daniel Kahneman found that most people would be extremely happy if they could make just $60,000 a year, with his study finding declines in happiness above that. I’m not sure (but I would guess) that number has gone up with inflation, but it certainly speaks to the fact that the vast

Really? Her “biggest regret”?

I watched all of The Vow on HBO, and there’s early footage in there of Mack meeting Raniere for the first time at one of his weird-ass late night volleyball sessions.

I do feel like Allison Mack was a victim, but she hurt a lot of people and recruited a lot of people into this cult. I doubt she is gonna get no time.

“I believe that other people can have a PhD level in understanding themselves. You don’t have to think, ‘I don’t have a bachelor’s degree, I don’t have this certification’ or whatnot, you can curate your own learning that is specific to who you are, to what your passions are, to whatever transitional phase you are in
