This isn't new. Anyone ever seen International Male catalog? Or Ambercrombie & Fitch?

Long live Upstate New York! Represent!
I think my brain just melted out of my ears.
Ummm, they vote more? Are you sure? I used to be a community reporter in the Bronx and worked with the local politicians up there - and yeah, you can talk about the old bitties of the Upper East Side and have a point, but take a tough as nails Venezuelan mother and her local park and you'll have a run for your money!…
I'm white and moved to NYC a few years ago. I even have a college education, but I'm a creative, therefore - poor. Nonetheless, when me and the ex-hubby moved here, a real estate agent actually broke the fourth wall for a moment and admitted that that's what they're doing - intimidate the poors into leaving so they…
My friend - who lives in Bushwick - just sent me this: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/25/nyr…
Actually, I don't think the gentrifiers are interested in the "New York Experience" at all. They just want a place to set up their organic frozen yogurt shops and their knitting circles and be as free from the outside world as possible.
Agree with you. But I have to admit, I love me some yuppie white culture! I like specialty cheese and organic frozen yogurt with locally grown berries and bars that feature strong hoppy beers and bands with funny names.
I live in a neighborhood in MANHATTAN that most people laugh at me for. It's quiet, it's calm, has three parks and a beautiful natural landscape... But it's not "cool" - meaning it's all new immigrants, classical musicians and med students - and we have a strong community!
The only thing OBVIOUS should be my disdain for didactic extremist arguments. Fucking internet always brings out people who want debate in polar opposites and assume that everyone else except them is either too stupid or naive for any real debate.
Me too! Though over the weekend, Lindy West did a piece on Reality Bites and I'm failing to see what the difference between Girls and that movie is... I think Girls is the serialized version with a little more body fat. Otherwise - SAME!
Well, to be fair, somehow we're supposed to excuse Lena/Hannah's narcissism because she's so "acutely self-aware" and making fun of it at the same time.
I just thing it looks kinda gross... but then maybe I just don't like drinking milk!
Alright, you got a soapbox, you wanna stand on it. Fine. Go on with your one-person crusade against.. actually, I don't know. Against non-mass marketed farmed goods? And as someone who used to work in restaurants (a cook in charge of inventory) I can guarantee you, private farms do exist. It's not all smoke and…
Well said!
"...but by gaps in your knowledge about how industries attempt to manipulate you by manufacturing fear about the food you're eating, because they just so happen to sell the higher-priced alternative."
OMFG! Are you serious?!? I actually wrote a cogent response to you that admitted your argument made factual sense countering it against a lot of extremist arguments I've seen (most of them on this page), and you're coming back and accusing me of being the same kind of extremist I JUST SAID I don't agree with?!?!? GTFO!
AND just because it has a "fancy chemical name" doesn't mean it's automatically good either.
Now that makes Waaaay more sense than a lot of people on here who are arguing that by just virtue of the fact that it's a "chemical" and that it's backed with "science", we should trust it and that it's good. That to me is the same kind of fetishism of people who will reject anything that isn't grown in its natural…
But, it's a chemical! It has to be okayyyy!!!!
