When are they going to accept that Dakota Johnson can’t act, let alone carry a movie as the lead?

Reminds me of when they rolled out “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” at Christmas time, and tried to lean into the counter-programming of it all by marketing it as “The Feel-Bad Movie of the Holidays.”

My theory as to why Depp was cast in this: Eggers wanted Olivia Cooke, but she was unavailable because of her House of the Dragon commitment, so he said, “Well find me someone who looks like her, it’s not as if she needs to do much except lie there and look half dead.”

He’s a narcissist.  He only cares about himself, and will only be contrite if it is to his benefit, and even then, it will never be sincere, because he truly doesn’t believe he did anything wrong.

Remember when he was supposed to be the next great actor of his generation?

Well that was a wasted effort then.

Yes to this! I’m so over the need to worldbuild, and plan everything out over multiple seasons, because it makes shows ponderous. The first season was amazing, because it felt like it was seat of their pants the whole time.

Yes! My favorite storylines were the lighthearted ones, like Allison’s run for school board, and all the hilarity that ensued from them switching places.  And I absolutely hated the whole arc involving the male clones, both because the actor cast to play them was the opposite of Maslany, just forgettable and dour and

You nailed it.  Maslany made the series work, and it was maddening how they tried to be too smart by half with all the conspiracies and machinations, when the series was at its best when it was just about the various incarnations Maslany played, and how they interacted. I find myself imagining what kind of series we

We should start a pool to guess how long it will take for Sony to ruin everything about Alamo that worked, run the chain into the ground, and sell it for parts.

I live by the maxim, that you’re better with the devil you know, versus the devil you don’t.

And maybe Leonard Pierce for a laugh?

I’m a long time AV Clubber.  And losing Kinja would be marvelous.  Please bring back the community we once had.  I thought Disqus worked great at the time, and I don’t know if it would be the solution this time around, but something apropos please!

The time for shows catering to aging Gen Xers is drawing to an end.  As an elder Millenial, I demand shows set in the mid to late 90s!

The real question is: What the fuck is MGM+?

I’m afraid the best we can hope for are a few websites that offer directories of other websites.

“We need someone with wholesome family oriented comedy.  Like Cosby!”

I get that, I really do. I get terribly starstruck as well, and never know what to say, not wanting to come off as fawning and insincere, but neither wanting to be blase. How do you tell someone how much their work has mattered to you, without seeming almost too enthusiastic? Plus there is always the fear that the
