I trust the trailer a lot more than an unsourced Deadline quote.
One of those good ol’ boys is played by Ike Barinholtz, ACLU activist and director of The Oath and outspoken liberal. I’m hard pressed to imagine him taking a pwn-the-libs movie just for the ducats.
Yeah, I read a few articles. I’m willing to bet this is something someone said off-hand and eveyrone ran with and has nothing to do with actual reality.
Cell was at least breezy. Dreamcatcher was plodding. Though it did have the bit with the helicopter attack, which is as good as any of the action scenes in Firestarter or early Gunslinger. Dreamcatcher strikes me as a book written by someone trying to do a tribute to Stephen King.
Dreamcatcher has one or two good ideas, which is one or two more than Cell.
yeah, I feel like I’m taking crazy pills when people keep saying “liberals vs conservatives” is the premise of the movie. It’s a really bizarre take given what marketing materials I’ve seen.
But also there’s nothing in the movie’s trailer to suggest AV Club’s description about “liberals hunting conservatives” is accurate at all.
That’s a terrible thing to call Chris Martin.
I’m an asshole about my job out in public all the time. No one at my job knows or cares.
All too often Dads are targeted in the media and blasted openly, not gentle mockery. They’re portrayed as bumbling, inept, and just downright stupid. Every sitcom, commercial, etc. has some dumb dad fucking shit up and his wife rolling her eyes before fixing the situation.
Okay
He’s friends with Dave Chappelle.
And then there’s the very outspokenly liberal Ike Barenholtz as one of the hunted.
But nothing about the trailer suggests the hunters are “liberal.” There’s the lines from the Deadline article, but there’s no real indication where they got that idea.
Listen, I’m not generally one to holler“leave politics out of this!” but I just watched that trailer and nothing about the Zaroffs in that movie seemed “liberal-coded” to me. I’m not sure where that line is coming from.
Awww, it’s so sweet that you remember me, whoever you are.
And look at how long AOL lasted.
I demand at least four sets of power lines lining the streets!
Someone tell bell hooks she’s a misogynist!
