Oh, good! Not that one dog can't give plenty of love to three boys, but I'm sure the dogs' time there is limited, and sharing is hard enough under normal circumstances :)

Ask google and you shall receive. Cheese boobs.

There's a lot to be said for dogs' ability to project unconditional love. It helps a lot of people.

I totally agree, as a straight person who has needed abortion rights. But I also don't expect it to work so smoothly.

Dogs are wonderful therapy. I have a rescued pit mix who is certified for therapy work, and the interactions she has with her patients are lovely. But to expect all of these results ("compassion for all living things") to be predictable and permanent represent very high expectations that are perhaps unrealistic?

That's a really good point. I don't think I was making any further assumptions about his personality, morals, work ethic, etc, based on his name. As I said further down the thread, I dated a guy who (due to his adoption) had a Mexican name, but looked very stereotypically European, and observing the changes that came

You may be right, I wasn't adding any negative traits to him based on my assumption. But I've always been a little thrown by names... I dated a guy for a few months once who was adopted into a Mexican-American family, and the cultural vs. biological differences, as well as the assumptions/changes in behavior people

This is so beautiful. So many people demonstrating that justice delayed is not always justice denied.

Just because I was accidentally right (unless I subconsciously knew this) doesn't make it ok. It's something I want to keep an eye on, myself, that's all.

Maybe I remembered that subconsciously, but the fact that I made the assumption purely based on the name is what worries me. Just because I happened to be right accidentally doesn't absolve me of it.

I'm such a moron that, when I first heard Louis C. K.'s stand-up, it was on Pandora, so I never actually saw it written out. I, like a jackass, assumed it was a Hispanic name (like Cacique, the cheese, I guess). When I finally saw it, I had one of those, "Wow, I'm totally being racist there" moments. It was internally

This is a great program, and I wish there was more funding for stuff like this, but it seems like

Perfect, actually.

Oh, no offense taken. I know logically and scientifically (the only thing legislation should be based on), it's correctly termed a fetus. Emotionally, it felt like a baby to me, and if the Cons' argument is "You don't think of it as a baby... if you only realized it's a baby, you wouldn't WANT to abort," I say that's

Good point, although it would seem that, if these people already have diagnoses for erectile issues (and usually coinciding ones for cardiological issues), I'm not sure what they were trying to accomplish.

Absolutely true. No one should have the right to infringe on anyone's decision here.

I want that on a t-shirt. Or a mud flap. Do they make mud flaps?

It's a classic.
