Except that would lead to degenerate play. Have fun circle camping for 8 minutes on Temple if you want though.

Game is currently the most popular is has ever been and I’m still having more fun with it than any other game, so no.
but want to make sure no new blood can ever get in.
I may be speaking from a place of ignorance but other games do not have such strict guidelines for controllers. I mean like in SF if you want to use the Dualshock/Xbone controller, then you can, you are going to get shredded perhaps but you can use it if you feel comfortable in it.

This is a new level of stupidity in a compete comment section, I don’t even know where to begin.
I don’t know why I try to get through to Kotaku morons. You literally didn’t even read my comment. The community is fucking AGAINST coaching and extremely pissed at Hbox. It’s been banned at most Melee majors for the last few months.
Lmao a majority of the community is anti-coaching and is railing against him at the moment, you clearly have no idea what you’re talking about. Not that I expect anything else from these comment sections.
Honestly man, why do you continue to post Smash content here? There’s no discussion to be had; every time it’s just whining fuckboys in the comments who have no idea what the fuck they’re talking about. All they can do is circle jerk about le glitchy old game and scream “move on!!!1!” over and over again. I will say…
Well first of all, I see you failed to name any glitches that actually affect competitive play consistently.
Nope, we both know that’s not what I was getting at. I’d love for you are someone else here to actually name some glitches that are relevant to competitive play. You can’t though, since you everyone else on Kotaku has no idea what the fuck their talking about.
Yeah, they’re intertwined. A combination of the game’s software and hardware makes dashing backwards without wasting tilt turn frames unreliable, so special controllers with worn potentiometers are searched for. However, even with a perfect controller, polling will fuck you over about 1/10 times. So it’s not exactly…
“Glitchy mess”? Could you name some of those glitches? ICG is extremely rare and situational. Ice Climbers freeze glitch is banned. Yo-Yo glitch only matters for Ness and is basically impossible set up mid-match.
Why the plural? Armada is just one player at one tournament, most of the community, including pros, was ragging on him over it afterwards.
Nope, tripping is tied to the basic movement of dashing and happens at random for no reason. ICG is extremely rare and situational on the other hand. I mean, one of videos in the article literally shows someone intentionally triggering the glitch multiple times.
Could you name some of those glitches? All I can think of off the top of my head is ICG, the Ice Climber’s freeze glitch, and the Yo-Yo Glitch. These glitches are all extremely rare to see in competitive play, the ICG is really the only prominent one and even that barely ever happens.
Actually, you’re just going off of this preconceived and inaccurate notion that has no base in reality:
These players are not “gods” at Melee. They may be “gods” at a very specifically limited subset of the game, but not at the game as a whole.
No one in the community gives shit about Nintendo supporting the game lmao, I’m just using them to point out how there’s nowhere to turn for reliably functional controllers. All Nintendo has ever done for Melee is slap there names on nationals now that the game is bigger than ever. Smash 4 is still lagging behind…
