I can’t have dairy so I didn’t add cheese. Almost all store pestos have cheese in them, and those without cheese are crazy expensive for tiny little jars. So I figured it’s cheaper to make at home.

It was definitely the basil. I don’t eat basil by itself so I didn’t know if basil was supposed to taste like that. The internet was not very helpful surprisingly.

I tried making basil pesto for the first time and it came out bitter. All I added was basil, pine nuts, garlic and olive oil. Does anybody know why it came out bitter or how to fix that?
