Also there may be disciplinary action for the officers who continued the pursuit after it had become hazardous to the general public. The officers responsible for continuing the chase can claim the chase was not dangerous if the cause of the crash is pinned on the trucker.

That hadn’t occurred to me, but it’s a smart take. Generally speaking, most municipalities have rules about how far and how long (read: not very much at all) you’re allowed to continue a high-speed pursuit due to the danger in which it puts the community you race through.
