I quite like "Hey Orpheus/It's Never Over" in that regard. (Even though it goes out on a pretty weak note, given the juggernaut riff at the start.)

I would upvote you 10 times for Grace VanderWaal if I could. I actually got tears in my eyes from that song, god damn it. I just hope she turns out to be herself and not "the next Taylor Swift", whatever that means.

EXCELLENT IDEA

Upvote for Teardrop, good pick.

Like a few other people here, I'd say that this happens to me with a ton of songs— I am kind of a pushover for powerful emotions in songs.

Oxenfree could be a good game to play on or near Halloween. Semi-spooky game with cool character development and lovely dark look and sound. Actually, maybe I'll play it (again) on Halloween…

I must be really tired but I just laughed more and more the longer his silent, slightly wobbly sneer continued.

Back with family in the States for a long holiday weekend, but I feel like I might be more into hanging out with human beings than playing video games (!!). Well, except for tonight, when obviously I stayed up until 2 am playing the only two games that I am likely to get into at all this weekend:

Yeah, I didn't think of her as a bad or morally incorrect person for "selling out" or anything like that, it's just that I didn't like the direction she was going in, so I stopped listening. (shrug)

I don't remember that (wasn't all that into the music press back then) but if so, yeah… she was always kind of gross.

Upvoted for the J. Mascis comment. I liked Dinosaur Jr's sound OK but man, that voice…

Yeah, "sold out" is not it at all. She really WANTED to be a pop princess. I specifically remember an interview where she said she was really excited to finally have the production team etc. that would allow her to achieve the sound of her favorite (then-) current songwriter, Avril Lavigne. Yeesh.

I heard that CD once at a friend's place and I am now kind of shocked to realize that I didn't run out and grab it. I should see if the Internet can hook me up with that…

Dude, Live Through This was a damn good album. And I am definitely no fan of Courtney Love as a human being.

I bought Guyville when I was 17. I will admit that my initial interest had something to do with sex appeal (and MTV was really, really hyping that in interviews with her etc.).

Her videos were always terrible, she wanted to be poppy but couldn't really do it…

Sounds like an average Monday to me…

Ha, yeah I knew about that and it does seem to have become part of the vernacular. I am playing Sunless Sea at the moment, which is probably one of the farthest things from Half-Life and its ilk that you can imagine, but even they had a "lol crates suck amirite" sort of reference in there pretty early on.

Well… you could

"Crates: The basic unit of gameplay."
