My wife and I just got back from tooling about Ireland in a Hyundai i10. Would have loved an Up GTI but that little Hyundai was fantastic! Well..up until around 70mph on the motorway, when it ran out of oomph. But anything below that, which is 90% of the roads we were on, way more fun than any rental stateside.

They only put the shortstar in it after 99 (as an option in the higher trims). First year was a pushrod 3.8
First year, it indeed did have a pushrod engine. Shortstar was an option in 99 and later.

Dacia Duster has shot to the top of my weird-small-non-sporty-euro-car I lust after to the confusion of my wife list ever since seeing them in Germany this fall. Would absolutely consider one if they sold them on the cheap here.
