I lament never getting around to Robotrek when it always sat on the shelf at the video store. Didn’t know it was actually an RPG till way later.

I loved that game too! Haven’t played it since I was 10 or 11. I loved the 3rd transformation you got were you were like a being made of shadow flames. So sick. Maybe favorite world was the sky garden (fuck that boss tho). I still remember (vaguely) when you reach the underground society and find the dead body of your…
The only US game I recall doing that was EarthBound. And that guide was a life saver! A complete box with the game and guide is worth a fortune.
I think they were too focused on excluding any male allies of importance.
Totally, I feel like they had grander plans that got abandoned during development, so all the rewards were changed to lazy cosmetics and XP boosts. The lack of currency and any kind of inventory or even a real crafting system was the biggest problem with the game. Then the treasures could’ve been much more satisfying.
Me too, but a lot of them are pretty dull or similar to other items, especially the light saber parts.
My advice for Jedi. Don’t feel compelled to go back and explore every nook and cranny. The majority of hidden areas are “visions” that give you a XP bump or a cosmetic item. Look up where the stim packs and how to get the double blade. Those should be prioritized.
I never finished P3 back in the day and would love an update at some point, but the one I really want to give a shot is P2. I did a deep dive on the wiki and the story is amazing. Nazis in the Arctic!
Truly. Having an entire summer to sit on my ass all day, in front of the TV and blow through a meaty RPG in a week or two is only a dream now. I remember the video store were I did all of my rentals let you keep the game for 5 days. So, I’d devour a game in that time frame. Usually it only took 2 rentals to beat a…
I had lofty goals this year to clear out some of my back log AND play plenty of new games during lockdown. Turned out that was unrealistic. I ended up spending more than a month on FF7R and Jedi: Fallen Order each, and 2 months on Hades. The only games I got through in a reasonable timeframe were Ace Combat 7 and…
I kind of respect that you didn’t mention Hades lol.
I’m usually the kind of player that sticks with the oldest crew in the party (Fei, Citan, Bart, Elly). However, I had to make room for Billy. He ended up taking Bart’s spot mostly because Citan’s sword is just glorious and Elly is my fave character.
I DLed the pdf and started perusing the translation after reading this. Wasn’t aware how much back lore was added to the game. Then again, I could barely follow the lore that was IN the game when I played it in ‘99 lol.
The only hope is some kind of joint development between monolith and SE, which isn’t impossible in the industry, but SE has been notorious about not playing ball with others. I’m surprised modders haven’t taken a whack at it.
Preaching to the choir, man. I loved juggling baddies with his gun combos.
I was curious and looked around other forums and I think I may have found a winner, but be warned, it goes into DEEP anime bullshit territory. Here’s a summary I found from a poster on gamefaqs:
Is Id stronger than Fei though? Assuming he’s piloting Xenogears, which was created to kill gods. Jesus I need a remaster of that game so damn bad.
Not if you have warding and subversion materia. Good luck landing a hit you little green bastard!
Pete! When’s your next mecha-inspired novel? Lol. BTW I have your book, still need to find some time to dive into it. Wondering if you ever played the early PS2 game, Ring of Red from Konami? It’s an alternate history Strategy JRPG set during a civil war between a democratic southern Japan and an a soviet-backed…
