They do this not only to make the cars look cool, but so the drivers might actually think of using them.

I hope everyone bought stock in the Bugs-sawing-off-Florida and various facepalm GIFs, because they're about to be all over this page. The Mayor of St.Petersburg, Florida had to pause in the middle of a forum about crime to remind everyone not to leave their damn keys in their cars.

It's great, except for those headlights.

Does anyone else think the Viper looks like it got sat on in the middle and squished a bit?

Kudos to your friend for not racing the kids and for being enthusiastic about others being enthusiastic. People like that are why I like car culture!

Seen less than thrilled about this development: Most Audi buyers

I hope they'll give some function to the old speedo circle. I like it there, but I feel like it starts looking silly without some sort of functional purpose.

There's a really good Cars and Coffee that meets right outside. They're the kind of people who, when a nineteen year old says he plans to have the same cars someday, are enthusiastic about this. They're also the kind of guys who enabled my "me sitting in a 458" timeline banner.

I work at a Starbucks drive-thru and can attest to this. Nice German cars are status symbols for people who believe themselves to be very self-important. The majority of people who drive them are far more unpleasant than the friendly, down to earth Ferrari drivers I've also met from working there. There are

You are a hero among your ranks!

There's a lane merge near my house that's kind of like that. It's a bit unexpected, yes, but I don't let them in easily unless they use their turn signals like grown ups.

I have definitely noticed that ricers stop at crosswalks the very most. In New Jersey, it's almost infallible.

I'm not typically one of those "I hate spoilers for some reason" folks, but if you only showed me this bit I'd swear it was attached to a Subaru.

What ended up happening with it?

I too find it hilarious that people paid money for PT Cruisers.

I know a girl ("rich white kid, fresh out of high school" girl) who got a new Mustang one day. Since then, she makes a lot of statuses about "get out of my way, other drivers." But my favorite was when she claimed to "max it out" and get to the shore in a half hour. Undeterred when I told her what could happen for

Maybe we should have a post for "good cop" stories.

Couldn't you get the same thing done by driving around town in low gear?

That's true too. A lot of Americans make driving decisions by merely doing the max of what the road signage allows, even if it's not smart for them or for the conditions.

It's a matter of the situation. For example, there's a 40mph road I take to work every day that I could easily go 60 on. In fact, I've done it absentmindedly once or twice. But once, on a quiet 4:30 AM morning with no other cars, I almost hit a fox in the bend. That's why the limit isn't sixty, I suppose.
