There is actually not a consensus definition of fish. That is why things like hagfish and lampreys go back and forth depending on who you ask. In order for the group "fish" to be monophyletic, then yes, we (and all other tetrapods) would need to be considered fish, including the common ancestor of all tetrapods.

Small error: Schneider was incorrect in saying that the most recent common ancestor of all tetrapods is a fish. If that was true, it would mean that tetrapods came from more than one evolutionary event (they emerged from fish at least twice). It is believed that all tetrapods came from a single evolutionary event,

You missed the entire point of the article. The problem isn't in how it deals with us and whether or not those dealings are beneficial. The problem is a complete lack of interest. You couldn't care less about the ant colony in your garden, regardless of how many sugar grains they pile up on your doorstep.

My grandparents lapotp seemingly wouldn't connect to the internet wirelessly. A router firmware update seems to have fixed the problem, but we shall see. Unfortunately the router isn't support by DDWRT so I can't fix the problem as well as I would like.

I'll just leave this here: http://xkcd.com/576/

This is almost for sure not the only part of the plan. Hopefully they will also be using traps, snares, and other means.

Despite your denigrations of the free for all, random boarding has been shown to be faster than allocated seating. http://menkes76.com/projects/boarding/boarding.htm

Every review I have read except gizmodo's has loved everything about the Surface and only dinged it on a tiny ecosystem. Reviews in general are not "mixed".

So fine, they don't test innate intelligence that well. And while testing innate intelligence has interesting implications and uses, testing practical intelligence is probably more useful in a real world environment, so are IQ tests actually testing practical intelligence? Are people who test higher smarter than those

Two hours tops. And that is stretching it. And they better be damn cheap tickets. 1 pound is what, between $1.50 and $2.50? I'd do it for probably up to 10 bucks.

I don't think anyone would buy that it wasn't caught in testing, and it is way too easy to be caught. At least, that's how it seems to me. If this is real, I would not buy that it could have been accidental. It was either purposeful or it was the result of criminal incompetence/negligence. Either way, the people go to

If it were possible to make money doing what you are talking about, trust me, someone would. The problem is that passengers expect a certain ticket cost and aren't willing to pay the extra for all the perks you just mentioned. Or at least, not enough people for it to be worth it for the airlines. And they do provide

Sounds fake to me. If you were going to mess with you voting machines, you wouldn't do it in a way that is obvious to the voter.

It's a function of the voting system. You only cast one vote, and that's all that counts. So voting for someone who is very unlikely to win is just throwing your vote away. A vote ranking system where you could cast several votes in ranked order, and the lowest candidate would get thrown out, then the votes would get

Exactly, from what I have heard, nearly all my requirements are met. I wasn't really worried about the browser or maps etc., that was more to just point out that I don't use or need a bazillion apps like instagram or whatever. I'm a little skeptical about a non-google mail client since I have gotten so addicted to

I use so few third party apps on my android phone that I'm not to concerned about the ecosystem. If I have a decent browser, a gmail client, kindle, and a good maps app, that is 95% of what I use my phone for. The only thing that is holding me back is how far into google voice I have integrated. Until there is a solid

isn't that the Umbrella Corp. symbol as well?

Um. Which reviews did you read? http://gdgt.com/microsoft/surface/with-windows-rt/

Despite the fact that I really hate the Giz review of surface, the one thing that even it couldn't complain about was the design and manufacture of the Surface. They (and everyone else) have commented on what a sturdy, beautiful, well designed product it is. The only thing I am waiting for is to see how the app

While technically allowed, I have NEVER heard of a scientist naming a new species after themselves. It's usually after an advisor in the (somewhat rare) cases that is isn't just some latin word.
