It’ll always come down to a question of perceived value since it’s impossible to have a standard for what a “complete” game is. If I pay for a steak, and the expectation was to get a steak, should dessert be free even tho it took extra time and resources to make? If I buy a movie ticket am I also owed the eventual

I agree that it’s a celebration of the brand and our time with it, but it is also 100% propaganda and great marketing. Marketing isn’t limited to ads, it encompasses everything from what products a company decides to make, to how people feel about a company. That feeling of “They gave me a free game!” plus all the

The biggest thing I don’t understand is why so many people that cover games talk about how next gen is an iterative step that mostly makes already existing experiences more solid, smooth and a bit prettier, and that’s it. Like we’ve seen all they can do.

I don’t know why people have this take on consoles but not other purchases. We weren’t forced to buy the mid-gen upgrades, some of us chose to. Since they didn’t lock us out of any content, there was no real need unless you wanted the small improvements they offered. I prefer having the option of a mid-gen upgrade

For a second I thought it was going to be a real Game Pass competitor. If they included all the 1st party going forward, even at an extra $10/month, it would be over. Seems like a one time thing. Still, free stuff. Win.

Those are great points. I’ll check the doc out, looks interesting!

Not a wish, just facts. That’s true of the tops companies only, and a lot of it due to mtx. I can also point to any big industry, cherry pick its top 1% and say, “hey, this is profitable as hell!”

Games haven’t changed in price for almost two decades, while development costs have grown exponentially. NES games in 1990 cost $50, which is $98 in today’s money. At $60, games are cheaper than they’ve ever been.

It was rebranded in 2019, but it started as Microsoft Game Studios in 2002.

I counted 3 🤷🏽‍♂️

That’s not how game development works, though. Some characters might click (be fun, balanced, etc) relatively quickly, while others might be trickier and require more iteration. Some of their heroes have been in development for a year or more. So what you’re asking wouldn’t necessarily mean we’d gotten a different

I know OW will never have a Puertorican hero, but I know zero Puertoricans, myself included, complaining about this. We understand that a game doesn’t/can’t be all things to all people. Not saying representation isn’t important, but the wording used by the people demanding this is troubling. It would be soul crushing

Another “creative” from the gaming industry here! I’m a level designer and 3d modeler, which actually makes me more impressed and excited about what they’ve done and it’s potential.

Really? They added a new campaign, 2 new patrol zones with 3 new public events, a bunch of new gear, new strikes and a new raid. What do we mean by new?

That is a very small part of VFX costs. A great compositor like this one will typically go for $400-$600 an hour, and this takes a lot of time to finish. In the post production studio I worked at Color Grading was $600/hour, so was Sound Design and VFX.

Depends on implementation, IMO. Would you rather have a $40-$60 version of Fortnite that isn’t constantly supported with weekly free content? Because you can’t have both.

Apple basically decided touch screen smartphones were the next big thing back in 2007. Also, no one is saying consoles are going out the door any time soon. Streaming will be an option for the people that want to have it.

Yeah, those suckers payed for a programable computer they can build ganes and peripherals with. People that make cool stuff are dumb.

I get it, the guy is far from perfect, but I can’t stand when people who do next to nothing to help others criticize those that do. Elon and his “minions” powered a children’s hospital in Puerto Rico, my country. Besides the obvious benefits and saved lives, the morale boost that this provided is hard to explain. It

The best reuse of an enemy I can remember is Halo 3's Scarab. You fight it 3 times, one on foot, two of them on a Scorpion tank and two on the VTOL aircraft. Each felt different and epic in their own way.
