I’m in love with this new take on 2.5D Mario. The animation work has so much appeal. At the same time, it’s so strange we’re praising Nintendo for finally doing what most games do. “There’s a custom falling animation!” Um…great!

I’m an animator and not sure what you mean. What’s specific to Spider-Verse (incredible, incredible movies) that this takes inspiration from?

Animator here! I’ve never seen a 3D package that uses AI to make or help with in-betweens. They just interpolate between frames linearly, or with curves edited by hand.

I see now we don’t approve comments criticizing the site. Censoring feedback, a new low.

“That’s understandable on Sony’s part!”

I’m surprised and sad at the lack of new info for the Xbox games we’re excited about. I don’t see the need to antagonize fans calling them “Console warriors” just because we might prefer one over the other. The Sony brand loyalty is wild on this site

That’s true only of a specific flavor of AAA games. Xbox brought a lot of indie and experimental gems, day one, on Game Pass. Tunic and Signalis deserved Stray’s spot for GOTY, Pentiment is great an unlike any other game this year, Grounded is the most coop fun I’ve had in a long time. Then there’s Norco, Vampire

So Fortnite and Deep Rock Galactic’s model.

I don’t like what Pantone is doing, but this article is a big miss representation of what they do. I get that no one’s an expert on all things, but to be snarky about a company “owning a color” because you didn’t research what they do is frustrating.

I’m glad they moved away from lootboxes. They have to monetize the game in some form or another. I put up with the 8 ads y’all have all over this article because I know you need to make money somehow.

I just hate that I have to keep a cable around and plug it in just for this. Why can’t it update wirelessly like the Xbox controller does?

“Despite its silly marketing-inspired name”.

Are not gonna mention Stranger Things being the biggest exposure to D&D the world has seen? I’d say that has been the most significant factor in its recent popularity.

Too bad the header image spoils the short. Kotaku strikes again.

It’s not just about 4K. More power could make existing 720p/1080p games look drastically better. On games like Zelda: BotW and Bowser’s Fury, the lack of anti-aliasing results in super jagged edges all around. Moving the existing library to 60fps would be a giant upgrade too.

* “With no Visual Effects.” Special Effects are in-camera elements like real explosions, animatronics, etc.

That’s a great take. At first I thought you were doing the same thing my buddy did, saying he “beat the game” after going straight through the main missions and calling it a day. Thanks for the very thoughtful and kind response

Define “finished the game”. I don’t think their statement about CP77 being one of the most ambitious games is too far off. I’ve put 52 hours in so far, finishing the main story and doing a massive amount of side content that is all unique (no repeated fetch quests), on par if not better than main missions in most

The type of game and scope are drastically different. We can’t compare a linear 3rd person action game with an open world that, besides graphics, is computing AI routines for pedestrians, drivers, NPC’s, active quests, day and night cycle with dynamic lighting, and more. It’s like spending all your time and money

I would like more options too, but we can’t gloss over what a gargantuan task that is for a game like this. In a game where we expect hundreds, if not thousands of options for clothing and armor, adding multiple body types means, best case scenario, manually tweaking every item or, worst case, making a whole new
