Then put your money where your mouth is and buy one.

Hi, I’m Jimmy from Jimmy’s Manure Delivery.  All of our vehicles are Dodge Journeys, because they’re crap before we even load anything in them.

The new Ford compact pick-up will start under $20000, but you won’t find one on the dealer lots for less than $27000.

Counterpoint. This picture here is closer to what it will look like in my driveway then any over-edited, perfect lighting, 10 layer Photoshop image Ford will release.

I’ve been calling my dick sport for years....

This is a very specific critique.

Like it’s been said below -

This is the smaller CUV that is below the Bronco. Think of this as the Jeep Renegade compared to the Wrangler

An engine that doesn’t require buying a $100k donor car could help save the ‘new’ Stratos though.

And that’s why 18" is about as big as I’ll go with wheels. Bigger wheels than that look stupid on a 90's BMW anyways.

Wheels should be the smallest size that clears the brakes. Final answer.

He largely explained it (though I’d add that the worse ride that beats up the suspension also contributes to interior squeaks sooner than a taller sidewall would), so I’ll address the brakes. The way cars are driven 99.9% of them do not need brakes so big that even 18s are required to clear them, never mind larger.

It shows that GM planned for that suv to have smaller wheels with larger tires. Not sure why someone putting 24s on after is GM’s fault. Those brakes work fine, I’m sure.

Yes. Just yes. Sidewalls are good people. For a daily driver they absorb road noise and impacts making a better ride. Unless your driving corners hard, and I mean screaming tires hard, get the smallest rims you can on the car within reason.  Your suspension and spine will thank you.

You know as well as I do why wheels got bigger. The beltline of cars got raised, because the hoodline of cars got raised, because of the European pedestrian safety regulations. If you put 14s on a modern car, they look horrible and undersized.

Ten inch wheels are good too,

What I want to know is what’s driving this trend. Who was it decided that big wheels are more desirable, and why did it stick? What’s the history behind this?

I’d rock the hell out of that Valiant, especially in that green.

^the appropriate color for all British cars

I really don’t see a whole lot of similarities to the Volvo interior except for things that are common trends in most of the segment.
