I love Vince Clarke. Play me, "Only You," and I'll melt. "Chains of Love," perfect. I read through all the comments, and I'll just go with BC and Violator as the best DM albums. And just to be conciliatory, I'm going to listen to Violator (then Sounds of the Universe) when I have time in a half hour.

While I'd probably push … Faith and Devotion higher, this is just about perfect.

Black Celebration is a better album. I will concede that individual songs are better on Violator. It also depends on whether you have the American or British version of BC (or the badly remastered original CD). The British is a far better sound and mix, but the American includes Michael Gore's least favorite hit "But

Not that I like Richard Spencer (punching him seems to be a good way to spend a weekday), but Black Celebration IS the best DM album. Admittedly, rock opera is my favorite type of music, I loved that album before I knew it was rock opera.

Yeah. I watched the movie again last night, and I figured someone would catch me out on my oops. In my own defense…. starred in a nerd show cancelled too soon, then became a silly version of a detective… No, huh? How abut, I just screwed up.

Nuh-uh… In one issue of DCNew52's late, unlamented, Liefeld _Hawk & Dove_, Deadman took over Obama. (As it's Liefeld, there was no sane story reason to do so, but it is a "thing that happened".)

Thank you. I totally forgot how much I loved the movie of New Frontier as well. I can hear Nathan Fillon's voice in my head, playing the part Nathan Fillon was born to play. The New 52 JLA first few issues are the only things not Cooke that remind me of his writing, especially Green Lantern (I know, because Fillon's

In 2005 I had two strokes. They left me barely able to read fiction. I went to comics simply as a way to learn to read again, but (non-existent)God was watching over me and put the Ross/Waid masterpiece Kingdom Come in my stack, followed by DC: The New Frontier. The first asked, "Why isn't there a sense of wonder in

Stephen Fry. Was said in this very episode.

Oh, man, all us over-40 nerds are going to eat this up—either version of that term you like. But I may still have another drinking game in me, if I can dust off my +3 Alka-Seltzer.

Got it in one! Didn't even think of that song.

Oh, goody. Writers' Room Scene One: "Who's distrusted more than the Islamists? Umm… Umm… ATHEISTS!!!" "Right! No God, no morals!, just bitterness!"

Wow, missed most things before you were born. Pick any random Tommy James song after the first album ("Draggin' the Line" is a song in a concept album called "Christian of the World", surrounded by the title song, and "Bells & Things", etc. It's one of the greatest Christian songs ever made, though it may take context

Criminal Minds, when someone at CBS decides he's looked at the same woman too long.

Porkins!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Old guy who saw the original in theaters… Rock on, ladies!

I just loved that Hammil is finally able to play The Joker live-action. Trickster (the real one) was never interested in killing. This is straight up man-who-laughs.

Agreed on Ostrander. I hope it didn't look like I was slagging Roy (& Dann) Thomas, because I have nothing but love. My full run of All-Star Squadron will never sell for a penny since I've read the ink off them! Finally reading his original run on Avengers, and it's fascinating to see how he grew into, and watch Stan

I just watched the Arkham movie (from the video game) starring, oddly, Neal McDonough. The scene breaks were clunky. Otherwise, not bad, as they were out of continuity and could kill of whomever they wanted, thus giving it some tension. And the would-be-an-R-rating was surprising. The Joker tattoo on Harley's butt was

… Roy Thomas is the king of retcons (All-Star Squadron, Invaders), but even he could not save the Hawks. Though I find it kinda cool that one of the reincarnations was the obscure-at-the-time Silent Knight.
