That video shows summer tires which is a completely different conversation.
Those who say “Oh, I’m fine” have never used real snow tires in a real winter. Period.
Thank you for calling me incompetent even though you don’t know who I am or what kind of personal accountability I have. I looked at the Google Maps street view and didn’t feel that the signage was adequate. Based on the hundreds of trucks that still hit the post in front of the bridge, I’m correct.
You think this is…
Well they certainly can improve the warning system for tall trucks. The light and few signs they have in place obviously isn’t enough since accidents keep happening.
the smart thing would be to get to work before the storm starts, and stay until after it ends
I totally would if they fit her car. Her truck has 19s so they’re hard to find for a reasonable price.
We are talking about conditions so bad that AWD is the difference between making it and not making it vs. just having proper tires on the car. Stay home in those conditions.
In the Midwest cities do not shut down due to snow or other inclement weather, so staying home isn’t an option. Stopping isn’t a problem if you leave a reasonable distance from the car in front of you.
I’m in WI so I ride on AWD + winter tires. My wife has AWD and good all-seasons and her truck is fine too.
Lots of WRX owners disable the feature because it can get very annoying. I currently live in a very flat area so mine never engages anyway.
I prefer the old Subaru hill start assist that you activated by pushing the clutch + brake pedal harder. The new version engages anytime you’re not on 100% level roads, even when it’s not needed.
I have never owned a VW in my life, but I’m looking at a Eurovan Camper to use for traveling to mountain bike races with the family.
If you disregard all the BS political posts, it looks like Jalopnik may be back on track for good articles. Good job recovering after the brain drain guys.
I’ll just throw a mention to Snagit for being the best screenshot tool available. My work pays for a license and I probably use it a dozen times per day.
Hey Tom - Did you see an uptick in WRX deals this year with the new 2018 being released? I’ve seen a lot of people on the forums upgrading from their 2015s even though it’s only a minor refresh.
Yes some SW fans like OP missed obvious details, but the movie still had massive issues that were either poor writing or just not explained at all. I don’t even consider myself a SW fan and I hated almost everything about TLJ (aside from just a couple cool scenes).
I guess people just want different things in cars, but I cannot ever see myself wanting cold air on my face when it’s cold enough for heat. After the car is warmed up, I just adjust the temperature to a more neutral position (or a car with automatic climate control will do this itself). There’s no need to keep it on…
This is the one feature of BMWs that I just don’t get. Why would I want to set the HVAC on heat, but change the air coming out to cold via a different button (idrive in my old X5, and a knob in my wife’s X3)?
Can confirm, all the neighbors are fans
