@TuxBobble: 8.04 is ancient by now. Pick up the 9.10 beta. Loads faster, beautiful notifications, new graphics drivers, PulseAudio sound system (which fixes *everything*!)

@Xander: That wouldn't make a difference. Even if the Linux usage rate on Gizmodo was what I said it was - the general population rate (which it's probably not on Giz, let's be more realistic in making up our numbers and say 10%) then only 1.5-4% would vote for APT. Let's take our made up stat and say that 10% of

1. How did you manage to use *the* most ugly iconset for GNOME?

Thanks for this review! I just got transferred to the Digital Imaging department at Best Buy (the #1 Best Buy *and* DI in Canada) and am still learning the ropes. Reviews like this (the difference between the Zi8 and the Mino) are absolutely invaluable, especially since I have no way to play with either the Mino or

Vote: Update Manager (built in, Ubuntu/Fedora/etc all with GNOME)

They still haven't fixed the Not-Available-Outside-The-U-S-of-A problem...

There's a BestBuy Mastercard?

This will revolutionize Failblog (if it needed fake content...)

@ttk2: Lifehacker posted a tutorial on fixing screen tearing in Ubuntu just a while ago.

@GreenM: *apparently* most cards do. Someone with my card said that after the update to A6 their HDMI audio was working but I have yet to see this*. PulseAudio is finally implemented properly. Skype is pretty much perfect.

@bpuli: Pretty much every problem can be fixed by throwing out a command-line order. They're integrating instructions more and more for the average joe (When I get the Ubuntu equivalent of registry corruption it gives me an easy-to-use command that fixes everything)

@edosan: Dollar coins are excellent. Why pay for a doughnut with a bill instead of a loonie (or an SBA coin)?

ThinkGeek has sold them for a while AFAIK, but I think they might also sell them at Staples (do you have Staples in America?)

@QadirJobnik: XP is shown to be much slower on a netbook than an optimized Linux like Moblin (which I really want to try!) or Jolicloud (based on Ubuntu).

Vote: X / Compiz

@eggnext: Ditto. VirtualBox is free and IMHO much more friendly

Good things are coming for you!

Ubuntu's notifyOSD is very, very good (especially in Karmic's testing phase). The Windows ones always look clunky.

Might this work with the Linux development version? The same syntax is used (for example, —enable-plugins). Will test :)

It doesn't seem to work too well... I put in my name (both my conventional and full name) and nothing showed up.
