The thing is that we now see how easy it is for a president to run roughshod over the opposition when his party controls Congress. Obama had Democrat majorities in the House and Senate until 2010. He might have kept them and maybe even picked up some seats if he forced popular policies through and said "tough shit"

Basically, Arnold meant they should have planned better so that protesters would be shunted into free speech incinerators.

But when the chips are down, they will vote with him. I see no reason to be optimistic that the GOP is even interested in checking Trump, even if they might tut-tut him whenever they feel something stir in their atrophied consciences.

For his many virtues, Obama's bipartisanship caused him to basically waste his presidency. Think of any transformative president and I will show you a man who did not give a fuck about what the other party thought.

Trump hates the press like an alcoholic hates booze.

This might be different, since McConnell is thinking about how that might pan out in a post-Trump world where the Democrats are out for revenge.

The Young Supreme Court Justice

Of course they're hypocrites. They're just sorely mistaken that anybody ever won a political victory by pointing out that their opponent is actually a hypocrite.

It's a possibility, but enough GOP senators are wary of doing that because they are thinking Trump might fuck up so bad it demolishes the GOP and they'll need whatever procedural tricks they can get at that point.

This is exactly what we were told wouldn't work for socialism, so I guess we know better now.

They criticize now so they can credibly run against him when they're up for reelection. Even if there is an element of sincerity, all GOP criticism of Trump is perfectly hollow until they are actively trying to thwart him.

The Land of Opportunity!

The problem was not third-party voters. They're a convenient scapegoat and blaming them is just another instance of the beloved liberal pastime of convening circular firing squads left-punching. Systematic disenfranchisement and low voter engagement did far more damage than every single third party vote combined.

I cannot say this enough: if liberals do not get over the idea that hypocrisy is some kind of mortal sin in politics, Bannon will have his thousand year reich.

I'd like to know what the definition of "American" is for these purposes, because treating minorities like shit is basically as American as the Pledge of Allegiance.

Unless they lived in a small handful of states and there are about 80,000 of them, it's not their fault.

The lips are fully detachable.

Fucked up if true, but I could see this being a way to isolate and identify a leak.

There's really no need to be fair.

I'm pretty sure that guy is tripping on mescalin right now.
