I had been reading spoilers for the movie before I saw it, but if I’d read about the ring, I must have forgotten, because when he opened the box and we all saw the emerald, I gasped too. My friend who came with me grabbed my arm and I had to hand her a napkin because we both started to cry.

Me too. The pressure this movie is having to carry to be halfway decent is stupefying. For better or worse, it’s going to represent the future of Asian actors and Asian stories in Hollywood.
