Here’s the question nobody’s asking: Were Wench auctions even an actual thing, and for that matter, were they associated with pirates? Through out history, prostitution has largely been a matter between a lady’s pimp/madam, or a self-employed situation. The concept of an auction isn’t very practical: You don’t have

>_> This ride is meant for parents and children. *Cough cough* Mostly children, with a few side jokes for the adults riding this because its better than being in 110 degree heat.

And this is the point where sensible people point out that this is a DISNEY PROPERTY.

My big problem is so much of the character development comes out of the Monster Of the Week formula that the majority of the first season is made of. You’re going to have a lot harder time investing in this crew if you don’t get the backstory of why they’re such good (NOT YOU URYU) characters.

Next thing you’ll tell me I shouldn’t enjoy slasher movies —;;

*Slow head tilt*

Its not about being progressive. It’s about answering to your potential customer’s desires. Most people generally don’t like the idea of selling women. That’s something that y’know, actually hits home for a lot of people. Raiding treasure ships is a little different.

o.O; Yes well, the difference is buccaneering life doesn’t exist anymore. Sexual trafficking does. So the threshold for being offended, and ergo, not entertained by one is the point.

.__. Disney choose to remove it themselves.

Honestly the way piracy worked, murder and rape weren’t all ‘that’ common. Piracy is about pushing an advantage and keeping it. Unless you were a super rich merchant, you didn’t really rely on heavy armament to protect your cargo, and most people would rather surrender than take on a fully armed crew. If you didn’t

Way too damned deep. Remember, this is also where you can ride on a flying elephant.

Oh you horrible, horrible person.

Does the word “Priority” mean anything to you? Anything at all?

And why would they be obligated to do otherwise? It’s an entertainment venue. It’s designed to cater to the public. The public at large doesn’t particularly like human trafficking, especially when we know so much more about it these days.

I’d put thievery above sexual trade, yes. Did you stop and really think your comment through?

._. That’s not a liberal thing. That’s just an idiotic White Man’s Burden thing, which predates political parties by a long-ass time.

o.o I don’t think that word really applied in the first place.

I really don’t think anyone is going to forget about sexual slavery because this wasn’t here. I haven’t been on this ride since 1998. I still remembered enough to write my senior term paper on the subject of human trafficking.

No. I get your point. You just don’t want to accept mine. In Japan, a Japanese actor is going to be the default choice because that’s your main market. There’s no one around there to BE upset at a lack of diversity there.

This feels very shades of J-Horror meets Blumhouse. But the actors seem oddly good, and there’s a little creativity in some of the sequences. I might give it a look.
