Honestly, it’s easy for me to look at that picture and see which kind of cookies I like best.  That’s what I loved about it. 

It sounds like you’re in the “I don’t want this to happen” stage and not yet the “I’m angry about this” stage. In hindsight, this is the point I wish I would have talked to my spouse about stuff like this. I did see that article. I have converted my cookies using this older post from Lifehacker. I like how you can tweak them to your own sensibilities. I am baking powder AND soda person with a 75 to 25% brown sugar to white sugar ratio.

My butter in Atlantic Canada has been funky. I was attributing the spreadability to the winter temps but maybe not? It’s also been cutting weird fresh out of the fridge. I was 17 years old before I ever even saw broccoli. Vegetables were canned peas &  green beans, frozen corn and fresh carrots, onions & potatoes.

I think that part of this is having more bandwidth to consider different foods and more time to invest in learning how to cook them. I’d bet that boredom factors in too now that we’re eating at home so much more. One can only eat the same things for so long.
