I worked for our local Public Health Dept and gave hundreds of flu shots every year. Working the deltoid by doing a (slow) chicken dance type motion can actually be pretty effective. Do it a few times just after the shot and then periodically over the next few hours-couple of days.
I believe (from what I read somewhere yesterday) that the proposed treatment was ovary sparing. The insurance company viewed this as preserving fertility
