Have you seen how the hood has to be opened? Ridiculous https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxe_b2…
They say it’s not a good idea to make early withdrawals from a 401k, right? RIGHT?!
Are you serious? Under 40k? There are loads...
In recent news, the Viper and Hellcat are not the same car. If they were even similar then new Vipers would actually be selling or Hellcats wouldn’t still be getting marked up.
They’ve done buying guides for other more “regular” cars as well. Bear in mind that the target demographic is not just the average Kinja commenter. People will come to these posts as they research their new car purchase, which opens up Jalopnik to new readership.
Our recommended configuration: Volvo S90.
The people at the end are Darwin’s real heroes. It’s good to violate basic instinct and run towards the car, outside of its path, in these situations, rather than try to outrun it. A handful of dudes just blatantly stepped into the car’s path. And they were standing on the outside of a turn to begin with. Good stuff.
Gotcha. Was unaware of that purchase price, although I’m sure that you shared it. And that covered everything associated with shipping it over? I know I could just dig through your articles for the answer, but being lazy here haha
Would it be possible to do a Tavarish-style cost breakdown of the ownership? I know you’re not usually 100% transparent about the finances, but this one is especially interesting given the importation.
This has to be the prettiest car that $25,000 can buy.
You can see the Michelin logo in a few frames from the video. Betting they were the stock Pilot SuperSports, over inflated, without much life left.
LOVE hearing him continuing to give it gas as he runs into the truck. That is a well qualified driver right there. He would’ve been fine if he put both feet in when it started to oversteer to the left.
I noticed that it was sized similarly to those models, but that didn’t feel like a guarantee that they’d be priced the same way. If they really get this down to 535 territory, it should absolutely crush.
And with that, Volvo became a more serious competitor to the major luxury brands than they have ever been in the past. I think this is a big deal, as long as they can price it under the S-Class/A8/7-Series.
Totally agree with all of the above. Add GT500s to the list of cars that will easily fall into the wrong hands soon.
People keep responding to me and equating volume to depreciation, in spite of the fact that the two are not entirely correlated. If they were, there would be no cheap AMGs and Wranglers would depreciate like rocks. I haven’t looked at eBay, but I mentioned to another commenter that every single used Hellcat on…
You may be right about the depreciation. Like I said, only time will tell. Production numbers really don’t mean what you think they mean, though. If they did, Wranglers, Tacomas, Rams, 1 series, and S2000s would all depreciate at the same rate as other competing models. It simply boils down to whether this thing will…
The used market is small right now, but this Certified example with 20,000 miles on it is selling for above its original MSRP. Doug’s article claims that “most Hellcats are in the $60k plus range”. The reality is that most new Hellcats are selling in the $90k range. There are 159 Certified/Used Hellcats on Autotrader…
