It’s a mere coincidence of Microsoft releasing S, and upcoming PS4 refresh. No sane person wants to buy a ps4 few month before the new one comes out. This holiday season will show the real sales.

Scorpio is (allegedly) 30% faster, that’s literally the difference between One and original PS4.

And we all saw how it went. A lot of games were just optimized for a weaker system and were performing identically. Some games just had a slight resolution decrease.

2k -> 4k upscale for Pro

Paid patches were mentioned in the context of old games, which is basically a remaster at some point.

I like it more, because it’s not “New” playstation, it’s “Better” but the same. It’s a marketing move, preventing people from thinking that their PS4 is obsolete.

original xbox will have harder time keeping up, because
a. Performance gap is much bigger
b. Scorpio comes out later

But to be fair, PS3 and 360 were getting (shitty, but still) ports for quite a while this generation. As long as the player base is high, devs will be forced to support older versions. Because money.
