There’s really nothing appealing in 4k TV’s right now (for me). Overcompressed streaming looks like garbage anyway. And for 4k PC gaming you’ll be getting a monitor.

Since most games are multiplatform and currently go with medium-high settings on PS4, it’s not that difficult to just crank them up to ultra(which are available anyway, because PC) and be done with it for easy solution.

Consoles generally aim for 30, apart from racing and competitive FPS. And getting from 30 to 60 is quite a big performance difference. On top of that sony is targeting 1800p, not actual 4k.

While it’s not capable of delivering native 4k at the same settings, I’m almost sure it can push 1800p (which according to rumors sony wants to push quite proactively) without sacrifices (which is like running 900p instead of 1080p and still a UGE improvement). For 400$ I’d say it’s a very good platform.
