The problem is that HDR is a new technology in a consumer TVs and it’s available only on relatively high end ones at the moment. So there are simply not that many new high end 1080p TV’s coming out, because high end is already switched to 4K.

Yes you can just set it to 1080p and it will be upscaled. Will probably look just like it would on a 1080p set unless it’s a VERY shitty TV.

Got a 4K/HDR set along with the Pro and very happy with it. I like sitting very close to a TV and it makes an astonishing difference. Most youtube channels are catching up with 4K content, netfix has plenty of content as well. Also I finally have the reason to switch the video recording mode to 4k on my phone lol.
