The weird thing is that people seem to act like this doesn’t happen in real life.
Not at all. If you look at my responses to this thread, I’ve given a few “diverse” characters and games that I think were totally fine. However, companies like BioWare approach diversity with all of the subtlety of a sledgehammer to the groin, and that approach is emulated by some other developers.
Alys was simultaneously a hard, no-nonsense fighter who was ridiculously capable, a sex symbol that other Hunters drooled over, and a caring friend/older sister figure to Chaz, and totally willing to make the sacrifice to save him from Zio.
Might be right. At this point, people are conditioned to expect it when they see any hints of diversity, because so many developers have bludgeoned us over the head with forced diverse casts.
1) Absolutely. Phantasy Star IV is the game that made me leave my Sega Genesis on for nearly 3 weeks to complete the game via Sega Channel. I loved it as a kid, and still love it today. The characters were well written, the cast was absolutely ridiculously diverse (like 3 androids, male and female humans, a bird…
I actually don’t agree with that. I think if someone looks back at a game like Phantasy Star IV, at least for the first roughly 1/3rd of the game, the “main character” is a woman. Maybe not main, but she’s clearly the backbone of the party, and your strongest member by *far*. However, the game doesn’t call it out,…
Haven’t read the article yet but you said certain words that totally piqued my interest in the headline so I’m commenting ASAP.
Jesus, slips of the tongue happen. Unless you want to say that Barack Obama is indeed a Muslim when he said “my Muslim faith” during an interview, then it’s probably best you just chill out.
Tragic how? It’s sexy as hell.
Out out out! If you came here illegally, no matter what circumstances you have...gtfo.
Wowzers lol. I didn’t play SO4 either, the last one I did was SO3 which I loved. Sad to see what I saw as a venerable franchise falling on hard times. I honestly think if they gave it a budget and gave it some talent, it could do *very* well. Not nearly enough sci-fi JRPGs around IMO.
Wait, seriously? I never played SO5, but with that being the case, a Star Ocean game being on one planet the entire time, I’m fairly confident whoever was directing it had no fucking idea what they were doing at all.
Do you think anything could have happened with previous black workers that would make multiple different companies outright refuse any black applicants in the future?
You are totally correct. Thing is, businesses and jobs don’t sprout up like magic, and it’s pretty obvious at this point that businesses aren’t going to be keen on starting up stores in areas where gas station attendants have to be put behind bulletproof glass, where Walgreens get set on fire during riots, etc. …
They’re pointing out how easy it is to drain his HP if he is caught in a combo. Note the video from the Japanese guy playing Akuma against Balrog. He basically dominates him from the get go, getting him down to 10% or so, while still having nearly 80%.
Oh, I’m sorry, I thought you were talking about a trial leading to that conclusion, never mind, I see what you were saying now.
He does actually get shamed by everyone. His wife leaves him, people ostracize him, and he decides to get himself put back into cryo so he can come back out when everything hopefully dies down a few years/decades down the line.
Yep, the guy who MADE the mod that popularized this game mode is jumping on a fad, totally.
Oh you sweet summer child.
