The gritty reboot of Call the Midwife.

Downton Abbey
brilliantly pointless

Or castor oil.

He kind of dashed off his responses.

I'm guessing half the population couldn't tell the difference today.

Aw, you can't lose the whist! The whist is the heart!

Sally Philips has a lifetime pass for Smack the Pony. I wish the rest of the troupe got more work.

Android Karenina is the one everybody says is actually good, right? I mean of the people who've actually read these and aren't just annoyed by the premise?

I hope that comment is the ad.

Maybe that's for the best.

Hey, Pamuk died in her bed, and she's still got no qualms about doing that.

I'd say that's almost all due to the acting. They've really jerked his character around, seemingly on a whim.

"Shouldn't we just let the ulcer, you know, do its thing? There's no reason to provoke it more, right?"

"With my last breath… I curse Edith."

I hope she acts gracefully too, but I would also love to see a reaction shot each time someone else in the house reveals that they knew all along, down to the sixth footman.

I can buy it as a reaction from someone when it's the last thing on their mind. Your brain might take a second to ask itself whether this is actually happening. Whether that applies to the blood spew or someone interrupting one of Violet's harangues, eh, six in one, etc.

Maybe it was an admission of cluelessness about the Bates plot. "You know what? We're on our way out, we're trying to get the important stuff done, so we're not going to subject you to more shoddy crime bullshit after all."

I was hoping there'd be a callback to Nick's zombie novel from a few seasons ago. It may have been worse than the erotica.

Everyone's saying "Armisen this" and "Armisen that." But no one's saying "Worship this" and "Jericho that."

As André Wilms explained at his pre-screening intro of Le Havre at the Toronto Film Fest: "French rock and roll is like English wine."
