No plans, aimlessly wandered for a while and started working at 17, it worked for me, found a fun job with a good company at 19 and 26 years later still at the same company and loving it. You don’t have to know exactly what you want at 18.

I went to college for Sociology right after high school. Being on my own for the first time, I stopped going to classes after 2 weeks and partied hard (maybe the the best story for your daughter, but the truth...). When I turned 24, I realized I was sick of jobs with no benefits and no self worth.
