Hard to believe that Cubs fan has supplanted a lifetime of douchebaggery in just one game.

out of 20 people in my two Fantasy leagues (all male 18-49 in the Demo NFL seems most concerned about) I know 3-4 guys that still watch like we used to and everyone else has dialed back. It’s just not entertaining anymore. It seems to constantly stop for long reviews that seemingly are decided by coin flips.…
Amen. I pretty much stopped watching the game last night after Carlos Hyde was tagged with a taunting penalty for committing the egregious act of flexing. When games aren’t all that entertaining on their own merits (like last night’s), a little showmanship helps. But the league has systematically squashed all forms of…
I’ve watched two games since 2010. Clips and highlights I can sit through, but the video game offense, bad commentary, and off-the-field shit ran me off from consuming a lot of NFL. I probably get 80 percent of it here, in fact. I watched the first Broncos Super Bowl with Peyton and last year’s Bengals-Steelers…
New father of two here, and this is me and my entire social circle. Between kids, work and just wanting a minute to BREATHE on my own, I don’t have all weekend to watch my Bears (cripes, I know) try to bumblefuck their way around the field.
However, I still play fantasy. That’s a weird Venn diagram.
Actually, I’m the opposite, single no kids. Last year, at the end of many Sundays spent on the couch, I found myself saying “that wasn’t any fun at all”, like I was doing it out of a sense of duty.
Interesting. I always assumed that college football underpinned interest in the NFL, which to me has always seemed less interesting. The level of play is really high, bit I find it hard to cheer for lavishly subsidized corporations.
= anecdata
That’s what I would call the major factor for me as well: the bullshit. Between Goodell, CTE-denial, definition of a catch, the year round need to be making news, and others.
Agree except with one quibble, basketball is back 100%. It’s blowing up in popularity. It turns out that a celebrity-driven sport is perfect for the social media age.
Honestly, I’ve reached the point that without fantasy football I really don’t think I’d care anymore. And I’ve been a lifelong diehard NFL fan.
I’ve gone from watching all day Sunday on Sunday Ticket to just watching my team, and only if they’re on broadcast TV. And even then, I only watch the second half most of the time. I’d guess that by next year I’ll be out altogether.
*Raises hand*
As a Brewers fan, I’m rooting for the Rangers because they have the most and best former Brewers. However, as a Brewers fan, I can also never forgive them for the 2011 World Series. Also, as a non-Texan, the idea of rooting for a Texas team kind of sickens me.
Now I hope they change their minds and don’t do one. Wouldn’t be the first time people have avoided Cleveland.
I follow my father’s sage advice in these matters: never root for southern teams or teams from Texas. Unless they’re playing the Red Sox , then we’re behind them 100%.
With extra-long cleats like that, they’d never have to cancel the Hall of Fame game again — it’s a miracle!
First off, great handle.
“But Coach,” I said. “There are only one set of footprints leading downfield.”
