The turretless design allowed them to mount the capable 75mm gun, which turrets of the day couldn’t handle. And being turretless isn’t necessarily a bad choice.  The SU-85/100 and StuG were very capable machines.

I agree with you on the whole Harbor Fright issue, though they are my go-to source for cordless hammers. I’m just saying that while the scam is obvious here, there’s a chance that some discount gear website would (though ignorance, not malice) pick up on these and start reselling them. True, but they didn’t in this case, either.  The accident happened after the car returned to fill up, not after the drunk guy walked in.  The vehicle was entirely capable of leaving under its own power without the refueling, so it’s a stretch to say that the station enabled its operation (during that refueling).
