There were two cars (well three) that I hoped would find a way into the US after the 25 year rule timed out. The VW polo. The Mercedes Unimog. And the G Wagon.

I had that conversation with him. This was decades ago but I believe I said something like, you know, you still will need to pay for that. 

I did repo for a while and most people know you are coming for the car. You mostly pull up around 1-2 am and hook it up, the knock on the door and ask if they want to get their stuff out. Maybe 85-90% of the people were cool. But that last 10-15% was the reason people stop doing it.
