I swear, every time I read about this scene, I’m convinced that 11-year-old Stephen King had a fantasy about he and his friends sharing some 11-year-old girl he had a crush on, and adult Stephen King said, “hey, that would make a great scene, and I’ll bet other people have had that fantasy too.”

Maybe the dude just cares about this person, AS A PERSON, and didn’t like his wife telling him who he’s allowed to talk to. Which would be the worst possible form of chauvinism if the roles were reversed, would it not?
